The Wellness Initiative (TWI) provides engagement opportunities that support individuals from a variety of disciplines in promoting whole-person wellness. TWI conducts periodic Awareness Sessions & Open Events addressing one or more aspects that are of relevance to us. Each Session has guest speakers addressing a particular facet of our overall Wellness.

TWI's vision is to promote the understanding of the dynamic factors that contribute to health and well-being and the sharing and development of strategies to positively influence those factors that support a communitywide population with healthy, balanced lifestyles.

TWI provides support, advocacy, and consultation to its members, partners, and associates.


DEFINITION OF WELLNESS

Although there might be different views on what all does wellness encompasses,there is a general agreement that Wellness is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential. It is multidimensional and holistic, encompassing lifestyle, mental and spiritual well-being, and the environment. Wellness is always positive and affirming.

Applying a wellness approach can be useful in nearly every human endeavor. As a pathway to optimal living, wellness is being applied to related fields, such as health promotion and holistic health, and has seen a growth in "helping professions" including counseling and medical arts and practices.
